MEET UP – DISCOVER YOUR VALUES THROUGH VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering in South of Italy for 5 months
January – May 2020

AIM

The project aims to bring together ideas, visions and experiences of youngsters who want to help us for building a more tolerant and inclusive society in Amantea local community.

We wish to create in Amantea a rich intercultural environment where cultural and linguistic differences are values instead of obstacles. The rapid changes of the last decades have weakened our roots. We want to restore the common linguistic aspects between the Mediterranean countries to regain the values of tolerance and solidarity.

The project is organized by The Convent Centre of Language & Art – a cultural association and foreign languages school. Convent Centre promotes activities that empower linguistic and cultural competences. Daily courses for all ages are delivered, together with workshops for kids that aim to facilitate their approach to foreign languages using non-formal methodologies.

 WHERE

Amantea is a charming and sunny town situated in Calabria Region by the Mediterranean Sea. It is the largest commercial and tourist centre in the area. There are numerous services and attractions in the town.

ACCOMMODATION

Volunteers will stay at Casa Convent, a flat located above the school in the city centre (Piazza Cappuccini). There are two single rooms (fully furnished) and all the necessary facilities.

COSTS OF LIVING

You will receive:
● Accommodation with all the utilities paid
● € 150,00 for food allowance and € 150,00 for pocket money
● Travel refund € 275,00 max.

ACTIVITIES

Volunteers will deal with:

• Italian language course
• Creative linguistic workshops for kids
• Small events for youngsters and adults
• Social Media and reporting
• Personal projects and promoting Erasmus+

ALL the activities will be equally divided into Learning and Volunteering activities using the approach of Learning by Doing.

YOUTHPASS and CV

At the end of the project you will get a youthpass – a EU certificate testing the skills acquired during your volunteering period. We will also help you to write your CV and cover letter so that it will be easier to participate in another project.

PROJECT COORDINATOR

Aida will explain your rights and duties and help you during your staying at Amantea. She took part in many EU project before deciding to become a EU project designer herself and be the one who gives youngsters the opportunity to explore Europe! She speaks English and Spanish very fluent.
