From Inside Out is a EU-funded project for Small Scale Partnerships in Youth under the Erasmus+ programme. This project aimed to empower youth workers from five European countries to initiate a positive dialogue around the topics of mental health & well-being with young people from their local communities.
The ultimate goal was to reduce the negative effects of mental health stigma, misinformation, and lack of resources felt by youngsters from these countries. The project took place between September 2023 and September 2024, and involved five European organisations: SEEDS Iceland (the coordinating organisation), You in Europe from Greece, Psientífica from Portugal, EPEKA Slovenia, and Ayuntamiento de Maracena from Spain.
This Toolbox is a culmination of the work completed throughout the project.
A survey conducted in October 2023, involving 57 youth workers and 146 young people from the five countries, informed the Good Practices shared.
In this Toolbox, we have compiled a variety of methods and activity ideas aimed at assisting youth workers and organisations in promoting active youth participation and encouraging positive dialogue around mental health issues. Our objective is to engage
young people in meaningful, appealing non-formal education activities while strengthe ning connections within our local communities.
The Toolbox includes eight methods for engaging with young people, complete with easy-to-follow, step by-step descriptions and necessary resources.
Each method can be used independently as a standalone activity or integrated into a broader strategic approach in your youth work.
Combining multiple activities can help create a long-lasting connection between your organisation and the young people in your community.
For more details and ideas on implementing these methods, explore the rest of the Toolbox. Additionally, you will find a link or QR code throughouth the Toolbox for accessing supplementary materials and more detailed descriptions of the main methods included here.
